My Bestie Ethan
Hello again!!! Its transfer week so im excited to see what happens there! Also we found the coolest little friend last week and he is getting baptized on Thursday!
His name is Ethan and his family is all members! He is SO sweet. His family id a little less active and we went to visit them randomly and his mom was like my son REALLY wants to get baptized but he is autistic and doesnt have the attention span and missioanries in the past have just gotten frusterated with him and so he hasnt got baptized. I was like this is HEAVEN! Teaching a kid with special needs LETS GOOOOOO!
Anyway this week we have been at his house teaching him for like an hour and a half every week! It has been hard and so fun! We have had to come up with some CRAZY activities to keep him entertained but he passed his interview and literally can pretty much repeat back to us EVERYTHING we have taught him! He is SO cool! He also wants the entire world at his baptism so yall are invited ;) oh and for some reason he only will call me Miss Peterson... so thats been a fun little joke this week!
Anyway a here is a quick thought for yall! This week I was thinking and I was like hmmm why if I am doing all I can to be on Christs team and follow him can it be so hard? Then I thought of many people I love who are doing the same thing and still have super hard things! But the thought came to me that we truly cant know JOY if we don't know PAIN.
So I decided to think about and study that a little bit more! But while doing that I realized that it is true! Even in sports! Hitting a double was always MUCH better after a strike out! Or swishing a three after you airball! If you always hit doubles or made threes you wouldnt have the joy that comes after heartache or failure! The same thing is in life! We must have the hard to have the good!
In the conference talk The Joy of the Saints by: Elder D Todd Christofferson he says "Joy comes from keeping Christ’s commandments, from overcoming sorrow and weakness through Him, and from serving as He served."
Joy comes through Christ but not because it will be perfect but because through him we can overcome the heartaches and struggles of this world! He is the reason that JOY can come! We just have to hang on through the darkness and put all our trust in him, following him, serving him. Then eventually when the timing is right the JOY WILL COME!
Christ is the way to joy and peace! Don't leave his team when it gets hard! Stay on it! He knows perfectly and is carrying you until you get to where you can and will find Joy!
Love Like Jesus
Love, Hermana Peterson
