These verses hit hard this week:
Alma 26:27-31
27 Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about to turn back, behold, the Lord comforted us, and said: Go amongst thy brethren, the Lamanites (Floridians), and bear with patience thine afflictions, and I will give unto you success.
28 And now behold, we have come, and been forth amongst them; and we have been patient in our sufferings, and we have suffered every privation; yea, we have traveled from house to house, relying upon the mercies of the world—not upon the mercies of the world alone but upon the mercies of God.
29 And we have entered into their houses and taught them, and we have taught them in their streets; yea, and we have taught them upon their hills; and we have also entered into their temples and their synagogues and taught them; and we have been cast out, and mocked, and spit upon, and smote upon our cheeks; and we have been stoned, and taken and bound with strong cords, and cast into prison; and through the power and wisdom of God we have been delivered again
30 And we have suffered all manner of afflictions, and all this, that perhaps we might be the means of saving some soul; and we supposed that our joy would be full if perhaps we could be the means of saving some.
31 Now behold, we can look forth and see the fruits of our labors; and are they few? I say unto you, Nay, they are many; yea, and we can witness of their sincerity, because of their love towards their brethren and also towards us.
I want to end my final email with my testimony... this is what I have come to understand on a deeper more personal level in the last 18 months.
I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World. But more personally that He is my Savior. He has been by my side the entire time even when I didnt deserve it or didnt see that He was there. I know that His atonement goes deeper and lower than anything we will ever go through. He knows exactly how to succor us. The title of Jesus Christ that has touched my soul lately has been Advocate. I know thats exactly what He is. The best teammate/coach we can ever have.
I know that we have Heavenly Father. I can testify of His love. I cant comprehend the amount of love he has but I can see it in the details of my life. Look around and you will see all sorts of proof of His love.
I can testify of the power of the Book of Mormon. I know that when I read it I receive comfort and guidance. I know that its purpose us to testify of Jesus Christ. I know that it is a powerful tool for us to Gather Israel.
I know without a doubt that missionary work is just as much if not more for the missionary than the people we teach. The Lord could baptize and convert every single person in the world in the Snap of finger if he wanted , but instead he sends young adults out to preach HIS gospel. He allows his church and His name to be put on the line so that we can learn and grow. If that doesn't show the character of the Savior idk what does. My mission has truly blessed me more than I could have ever blessed anyone! I am so very grateful!
There is still alot of things I am learning. But my mission has helped me have a firm base. I love my Savior. He is my best friend. I am so humbled to have wore His name on my chest for 18 months. He Lives my friends! He knows you! He is your Savior your Reedemer and can be your Best Friend if you let Him!
